Watchfulness - Luke 12
35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”Watchful is the word today, and not by accident. Watchful is defined as watching or observing someone or something closely; alert and vigilant: "the watchful eye of their father"..

When we're watchful you can easily attest what God is laying out for you. Watchful people are never caught off guard. How cool! Watchful people are HOPEFUL, they are expectant. They exercise RESTRAINT, because they know at any moment the Lord will come. Watchful people are also WILLING, they are willing to believe God does great immeasure things in and for those who love Him. Watchful peole know there is something worth being alert for. Watchful people are stirred to seek out...wait...be still...and wait on the Lord.
Vigilant and awake are my favorite synonyms. Vigilant is unstoppable. Awake is alert, keen on understanding what the Lord is directing.
I want to be watchful. I want to be alert of need. I want to be watchful of what the Lord is trying to say to His people. I want to be vigilant to serve my King. Alert. Awake to a be a light to a hurting lost world.
Be watchful.
